Moving forward on our Journey – the prep begins for our Trip.

by: JM

We are preparing for our upcoming trip which will take us into Montana, Wyoming, Canada and the Yukon; then up into southern Alaska, and back down through British Columbia into Washington State as well as Olympic and Mt. Rainier National Parks. From there we’ll travel down the Washington State coast as I’m a lighthouse hound, then back eastbound across Washington and into the Palouse as we head home. As I think of the potential for hundreds and hundreds of landscape and stock images I begin the mental exercise of what I plan on photographing, what and how to pack, and where I’m going to put it in my van with some justification as to why it needs to travel with me. Keep in mind that in addition to camera gear, we also have clothing, coolers, walking sticks, tripods, yes, plural as I travel with two instead of three, add in there our necessities of cooler, snack foods, drinks, cases of water and on and on. I also have my drone, plus the charging stations for the four drone batteries, as well as the six GFX, three XH1, and one Leica batteries as well. We even have a portable A/C cooling fan that will use our cold cooler water and ice. We shall see how this works out. If it doesn’t you may find it in a trash bin at a rest area somewhere in the Midwest.

Here is one of the FIRST cameras I’m packing. I’ve sold several GFX Medium Format lenses to acquire this beauty. Luckily, the lenses I sold I haven’t used them in at minimum 13 months, and one in over 24 months and I’m not one to hold on to something I haven’t used, unlike my wonderful spouse who loves to save everything.
